More Information

The European 5G Conference will take place on 12th & 13th February 2018 at the Steigenberger Wiltcher’s Hotel, Brussels. Focussing on aspects such as connectivity, use cases and deployment models, this two-day event will bring together high-level stakeholders to meet and discuss the roadmap ahead as we continue the journey towards the Gigabit Society.

5G is now right around the corner and is set to revolutionise almost all areas of society and business. It will mean far more than a simple increase in broadband speeds - it is set to unleash a whole plethora of new applications and use-cases, and form the backbone of a number of all-new industries.

For the full benefits of 5G to be realised, it is essential that a clear and co-ordinated strategy is put in place that encourages research, investment and innovation. This conference will offer the opportunity to take a comprehensive look at the approaches that regulators in Europe and elsewhere around the world are taking to achieve this.

With Europe now almost 18 months in to the roadmap laid out by the Commission’s communication package ‘Connectivity for a European Gigabit Society’, it will look at the progress that has been made to date and the challenges ahead for policymakers and stakeholders. Focussing on aspects such as connectivity and future deployment and business models, it will look at the shape of a future 5G world and at where Europe sits at a global level as it looks to deliver on its target of making 5G a reality for all citizens and businesses by the end of this decade.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Defining the 5G vision – where are we upto and where are we going?
  • A Roadmap for 5G - Delivering the European Gigabit Society
  • Use cases, new services and deployment models across vertical markets
  • Augmented and virtual reality - the ‘killer app’ for 5G?
  • The shape of future 5G networks – changing spectrum configurations and infrastructure models
  • Assignment and licencing for 5G spectrum – balancing investment certainty and flexibility
  • Delivering the potential of 5G in the 3.5GHz and the C-Band – Facing up to fragmentation and other challenges
  • Bands below 3.4GHz for 5G - Meeting future spectrum requirements in lower frequencies
  • Preparing for the WRC-19 discussions on millimetre bands
