Summary

5G promises to revolutionise how cities manage and deliver services, enabling improved quality of life for communities.

Across the UK and Europe, local authorities are working with a wide range of partners including technology providers, public sector and vertical industries to roll-out a series of localised trials and testbeds that are enabling some early real-world examples of 5G applications and technologies in action.

But what is the role of the local authorities in deploying 5G infrastructure at large scale across a city or region? How can we collectively translate the real-world benefits of 5G into value that will enable the new market places, partnerships and business models of tomorrow, ensuring sustainability? And how can we benefit communities in a way that is truly transformational?
