Further Information

Combating obesity and unhealthy lifestyles continues to pose one of the greatest challenges for Europe. With public health costs set to soar in the wake of the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases, there is an ever greater need for preventative measures aimed at the promotion of healthier and more active lifestyles.

Timed to coincide with the closing of the 2007-2013 period of the EU’s Strategy for Europe on nutrition, overweight and obesity-related health issues, this year’s conference evaluated the success of efforts made so far in these areas, and look forward to what the next steps should be.

Attracting high-level speakers and delegates from European governments and industry, as well as highlighting case-studies from outside the EU, this event explored the roles and responsibilities of policymakers and stakeholders as they seek to create healthier European citizens.

Sessions at the event include:
- What are the next steps for Europe in the promotion of healthy diets and lifestyles?
- Communicating to children on healthy diets and active lifestyles
- Beyond Labelling – empowering and informing consumers to make better choices
- Food Innovation: Finding a clear way forward
- Implementation of the Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation – Improving the Process
