Session 1: How identity is changing international governance
As the number of global Internet users grow, new challenges and opportunities emerge which require policy responses at regional, national and international levels. This session will look at how identity and the digital world are interacting: What role will they play in promoting health and wellbeing, social mobility and access to public services for instance? How can international cooperation and governance ensure that the rights of the individual are protected while not restricting appropriate crime prevention measures? What emerging identity related threats are on the horizon and how should policymakers respond?

Session 2: Personal information space – The future of our identities in a networked world
Driven by the so-called “digital natives”, the boundary between what is public and what is private is in flux, with peoples’ willingness to share personal information online offering both opportunities and consequences for society. How is the Internet, and more generally, the penetration of technologies into our every day lives altering the identity of the individual, i.e. the personal information space? How will areas such as the Internet of Things change concepts of identity and what will this mean for policy-makers, industry and civil society?

What steps are businesses and governments taking to ensure they reinforce trust and confidence through their new service offerings? What will future innovative identity management approaches look like and what legal, political and sociological challenges might they prompt?
