5G Huddle 2016

On 26 & 27 April in London, the Wireless World Research Forum hosted the 3rd Annual 5G Huddle in partnership with the 5GIC, CTO, CW and techUK.

Building on previous editions, this event brought together all stakeholder groups to identify the work that needs to be done in order to make the 5G vision a reality, and crucially, to explore how the community can work together to deliver a sustainable 5G Eco-System. Many thanks to everyone who attended!

With the support of increased speeds, low latency and higher capacity, 5G is widely regarded as the answer to growing business and consumer demands, as well as a key enabler for areas such as connected cities and communities, driverless vehicles, and the Internet of Things.

This high-level 2-day conference looked to identify the work that needs to be done in order to make the 5G vision a reality. The conference offered a platform to assess the outcomes of the recent World Radio Communication meeting (WRC-15) last November, and the spectrum that is needed to fuel 5G. Participants also sought to identify the unique challenges that lay ahead as we move towards wide-scale rollout by 2020.

Crucially, the event focused on a number of different vertical markets, such as the audiovisual and auto industries, and the potential impact that 5G can offer these. With growing consumer expectations and business demands across a range of industries, this conference provided a look at the 5G future and ways that the technologies can help manage these expectations, as well as ensuring interoperability and economies of scale.

Sessions focused on:

  • Providing the spectrum to fuel the 5G eco-system
  • Plotting the path to 2020 and beyond
  • Delivering a robust and secure 5G network
  • A glimpse into the future with interactive workshops and live demonstrations of key 5G technologies and applications in action
  • Technical and business innovation across vertical markets
